It had been hours since Jason killed Tino and the whores and he was amped up. He was so animated that it really scared Lesha. It was like he was on a drug, on a high. He’d gotten them a clean but low-key extended stay motel with two rooms. Jason was sitting at the kitchen counter smoking a Black & Mild cigarette and counting stacks of cash. Lesha and Girlfriend sat flabbergasted on the couch watching the news broadcast about the shooting in North Atlanta. So far, the police didn’t have any leads. They did say it looked like a robbery gone bad. Girlfriend spoke in a low and concerned tone.

“Lesha, this muthafucker is crazy.”

Lesha shook her head. “No, he’s just…I don’t know.”

“I’m not trying to run around killing people.”

Jason overheard the conversation, looked up, and smirked. “We made $734,000 for a few minutes work.”

Lesha and Girlfriend became quiet. Jason blew a cloud of smoke, filling the room with the sweet and heavy scent of tobacco.

“I’m gon’ keep it 100 with y’all from here on out.”

Lesha was taken aback, even his voice had changed. It was like he was a different person.

He gave Lesha a strange but leering stare. His eyes looked hard and intense, like he was looking through her the same way Carlos used to.

“Speak your piece, Girlfriend!” Jason advised. Girlfriend was shocked because he’d never referred to him by that moniker before.

“Huh!?”

“No huh! Speak your piece.”

Girlfriend was stunned but sputtered, “I’m not feeling killing people.”

Jason nodded. “Look player, you won’t make it if you’re not prepared to kill. These cartel boys don’t play. They already tried to kill you.”

“But you took out that guy with the two girls.”

Jason shrugged, “He was just a drug dealer and those bitches didn’t mean shit to him or anybody else.”

“Still,” interjected Lesha.

“They were witnesses. Don’t think those bitches wouldn’t have sold you out if we’d let them live. This is the game babe!”

“Jason, who are you?”

“I’m a muthafuckin soldier; that’s who the fuck I am!”

“You said you felt bad about all the killing you did.”

“Sometimes, but sometimes I miss it. Tonight, I got a taste of it again. Keeping it 100 babe, it got good to me. Dropping them muthafuckas felt good,” he articulated, taking deep, excited breaths.

Lesha had witnessed this before in Carlos. She stood and smiled, “Jason can we talk in the bedroom.”

Jason gave her a wild-eyed nod then stood back as she went pass him into the bedroom. He walked through the door and she shut it behind him. She was trembling and nervous. Nevertheless, she smacked him hard across the jaw.

Stunned, he stared at her! Pushing her solidly against the door, he pressed his body against hers.
